An April Wedding
Early Spring flowers - what’s in flower
April can be a glorious month for spring colour. The first flush of flowers appears, marking the beginning of a new flower season, and bringing new life and hope for abundance in the year ahead. It’s a special time, where showstopper flowers like Ranunculus, Iceland Poppies and Butterfly Ranunuculs take centre-stage while we wait patiently for the froth of late spring. Camasssia provides a beautiful, soft backdrop of pale blue, subtly setting off the showier, brighter flowers. I love the way Honesty brings a lovely meadowy feel to the arrangements, whilst the fresh green of Spring foliage makes all the colours pop. Hazel leaf and Jostaberry are my favourites at this time of year, pairing so beautifully together they stop me in my tracks, with a green that manages to be both vibrant and energising, yet gentle. After months of bare trees, seeing the first flush of foliage appear is a reminder that spring has most definitely arrived - at last! 🥳🌱🌸
Flower meadows & sunshine
We had the pleasure of flowering a beautiful wedding at the end of April, at Tall Johns House, a gorgeous setting for a wedding. The weather was unexpectedly extremely kind! While all the plans assumed the ceremony would take place in the barn, C&T were blessed with glorious sunshine so there was a last minute move to the walled garden.
This proved to be a perfect setting for the Milk Churns and meadows, with a backdrop of wild bluebells - a perfect picture of a Welsh country garden.
A DIY and bespoke combo
We provided bouquets and buttonholes, alongside the milk churns and meadows. We also supplied buckets full of flowers which the family turned into all sorts of beautiful arrangements in their own stoneware vases, all shapes and sizes, for the wedding breakfast.
While it’s fair to say the sun doesn’t always shine for an April wedding, we think it doesn’t matter, as long as the flowers bring colour and joy to the day. Are you planning a Spring wedding? Feel free to reach out for a chat, we’d love to talk flowers with you!
Thanks for reading! We’re planning on writing more of these mini-blogs through the year so keep an eye out if you’re interested in seeing how seasonal, Welsh wedding flowers change each month.
